Presbyterian | Spring 2018 | Your Story
Presbyterian’s purpose This winter I was able to go to our Annual Notification of Change (ANOC) meetings for our Medicare Advantage members. At these events, members learn more about their plan benefits and have the chance to get free health screenings. At the end of the meetings, members shared their stories with me about how Presbyterian helped them through a tough health situation. Each member’s story served as a reminder of why Presbyterian exists in the community. Our health plan is owned by Presbyterian Healthcare Services, a not-for-profit organization. Our mission at Presbyterian is to improve the health of the members, patients, and communities we serve. I am always honored to hear about the positive impact that our health system has on our friends and neighbors. Together, our health plan, hospitals, and physician group create a system that helps us ease the way for people seeking healthcare. For example, when a member of our plan calls to find a provider, we can find them a provider and schedule an office visit on the same call. Another example is PresRN, our nurse advice line. With our integrated electronic health record, our nurses can view shared information that allows them to coordinate care with a member’s entire care team. Our nurses can also let care teams know about a member’s health concerns to ensure continuity of care and follow up. Our health plan would not be able to schedule appointments for a member or directly coordinate with care teams without the power of our integration as a system. At Presbyterian, we are committed to helping our fellow New Mexicans improve their health, and in the long run, their lives. Thank you for putting your trust in us.
